A School's Guide to Data Handling
The National Curriculum has put Finding Things Out at the
top of every teacher's agenda. Computers enable us to store and retrieve large
quantities of information, from a wide variety of sources. Junior Viewpoint
allows children to work up to level 5 in National Curriculum ICT orders, but is
the simplest and most accessible educational database for beginners and less
confident users.
Junior
Viewpoint comes with exciting, easy-to-understand
documentation. Children
will learn to use the software naturally
and progressively, in line with the
requirements of the National Curriculum.
Junior Viewpoint instantly turns your computer into an
invaluable tool to collect and analyse any kind of data electronically. You
don’t need to be an expert to use it in your everyday teaching, yet as your
confidence increases you will find the range of features it offers will meet
the most demanding needs.
Building on the acclaimed Pinpoint family, Junior viewpoint
offers unrivalled simplicity and power, in an easy-to-use package, accompanied
by outstanding curriculum-focused documentation.
The illustrations and text as you can see set new standards
for pupil directed documentation, and the package is priced to meet the primary
school budget.
Junior Viewpoint helps you meet the Finding Things Out
aspect of the National Curriculum across all subjects. The user interface has
been designed with pupils' needs at heart and is robust. The imaginative ideas
that underpinned the original Junior Pinpoint package remove the unfriendliness
of traditional databases. This allows pupils of a wide range of ages and
abilities to pursue useful and realistic data handling tasks. The activity based emphasis of the
documentation and over 30 substantial example files makes it easy to learn and
interesting to follow. Junior Viewpoint was extensively tested in primary
schools before its release and is used today by thousands of children.

How can I use Junior Viewpoint?
Junior Viewpoint is packed with over 30 high quality data
files built to encourage pupils to interrogate, search, sort and analyse
information. Everything you need to deliver the Information Handling thread of
the National Curriculum ICT orders is included. Plus, if you have files you have made
in older educational databases, Junior Viewpoint can read files created in
Pinpoint, Graph, CSV, TSV and DataPower formats among others.
Creating a new project is simple. Layout your questionnaire
using simple graphical tools. Once designed you are ready to either print out
your questionnaire or enter data on screen. It's easy to include links to
websites in your forms too so pupils can explore the internet to Find Things
Out.
Junior Viewpoint allows you to rapidly search and sort
through data, either in the format of the original questionnaire, or in List
view. View a range of statistics and create impressive graphical reports, using
the powerful yet flexible presentation tools.
You and your pupils can concentrate on getting the most
value from your numeracy activities, rather than becoming waylaid by
technology.
With
Junior Viewpoint you can create graphs with just one or
two clicks of the
mouse.
Changing
graph types is just a mouse click away and makes it
easy to view data.

Creating
a scatter graph with a best-fit line takes no time at all.
